Blocking Off Websites

According to PCAAdvisor, there are 4 tips to block a website


1. To block sites within a browser. Blocking sites is can be done using a ‘black list’ within either a web browser. It can block addresses that can be used to access the site.


2. Through Parental Control Software. This software needs to be installed to perform web filtering, It includes regularly maintained list of inappropriate websites that are blocked. The software has other functions as well as limiting the amount of time a user can spend.

3. Through opening a DNS - free website blocking software. By changing settings in the router, you can limit the website. The router will use your ISP’s web filtering but administrator can choose to use OpenDNS instead. This is a free service which filters out inappropriate sites. This is done by changing settings in the router’s web interface.


4. Blocking a website can also be done in tablets and smartphones. For those with Windows Phone 8, then administrator can use the Kid’s Corner feature to restrict access to the web.
