Safe Internet Browsing

Based on wikihow, there are 4 considerations in browsing the net safely.

1. Consider a different browser. According to Wikihow, Interner Explorer is old that you are inherently exposed to security risks. The suggested browsers are Firefoz, Chrome, and Opera. These have larger security settings.

2. Avoid Clicking on Everything. Banner ads and popups are dangerous. You should avoud clicking on banners that are “too good to be true”.

3. Beware of misleading pop-ups. Some pop-ups are designed to imitate the look of a legitimate site. They are tricking the users. Wikihow suggested that you close popup windows and open antivirus. Further, the site suggested that you should not click “x” to close the pop up window which usually adds another more and more pop ups.The site also suggested that you ensure that the browser is configured to block popups.

4. Clear your cache. The site also suggested that users should clear the browser’s cache regularly. The popups are said to store information in the browser’s cache which lead to reappearing constantly.

5. Go only where you are supposed to go. The viruses allow you to go to sites which are not legitimate. They are masked as good sites which eventually could lead the users to virus and spyware.
